Apostasy Now

I have no evidence to back up what I am about to say. I have no paperwork, no recordings, no photos, no nothing. And yet this nags at me.

I have this sneaky feeling that soon the WBTS is going to broaden their view of "apostasy" and begin to include people who don't currently fit into their apostate views.

I have this itch that's telling me that, basically, if you present anything negative concerning the Truth, you are at risk of being hauled before an elder body and punished for this somehow (disfellowshipping, reproof?).

In the past year or so they have been constantly warning about the dangers of apostasy and I can see this as a warm-up to their getting the "poisined" people out from amidst the people who are "clean".

    Could be.

Didn't someone post that "the Boss" (Ted Jaracz) prefers to have people neatly labeled? There's an awful lot of hangers-on, people who show up at the Kingdom Hall mainly for the social aspects.

I've long held that they would prefer 3 or 4 million (or maybe even 1 or 2 million) frothing-at-the-mouth, utterly rabid and fiercely loyal adherents than the 7 million or so mixed-bag they have now.

A real conspiracy nut would contend that the dropping of the monthly field service statistics from the Kingdom Ministry, beginning in January 2009, would be another sign of this.

Is it paranoia if they really are out to get you?

What is "new" about that? That's been the case for decades.

Believing differently is enough to be labelled an apostate; you don't even have to express it.

In the seven years that I have been posting, people have been sure that there will be a crackdown on faded dissidents and a witch hunt. It has not happened yet.

Technically you can be before a J Committee for uttering contrary views, but it is not normally done,at least not in my experience. It all depends on the nature of your BOE.

The local elders have almost unlimited control of the extent to which current dogma is enforced.

How would anyone know what you believed if you didn't express it?

From my memory, they have bitched about apostasy all the time.

I don't think they can really add to it. The only thing they can do is ask you directly if you believe all the BS. If you say no, watch out!
