Neckties, Armageddon & 'The New World'

I've been doing a bit of thinking... (probably a dangerous thing, I know)

I have been 'out' for a very long time - and so have not looked at any WTBTS books or magazines in a very long time.

Recently, I went to a group on facebook - where there were posted a few drawings that have appeared in WT publications through the years. I recognize one or two (one purple one from the 'paradise' book).

The one thing that stands out to me - now - is that the men, after the big 'A' are nicely dressed... slacks, shirt, pull-over perhaps... but NO neckties.

So. Is this 'new light'? Or has it been known all along - and no one told me. There won't be neckties in 'the new world'?

No wonder all the elders and 'men of power' get all glassy-eyed when thinking and talking about paradise. They know (but I didn't - until now) that they won't have to wear neckties. Neckties don't make it through Armageddon - just like many other things of this 'old system' that are done away with.

Funny though... I don't remember the scripture that sez that... but I don't remember a lot of things from when I was a dub.

    Regards,

Jim TX - who hasn't worn a necktie in many years.

I made a thread concerning how neckties are from not only Pagan origins, but originally for Military fashion. Does the Governing Body know this? Of course they do. Do they care? Not at all. Does it make them look like hyprocrites? Absolutely!

Sounds like a ripoff to me! Women & girls still have to wear dresses but guys no ties? hmph.

Jim you're wearing what looks like a dinner jacket in your avatar. Doesn't that bow count as a tie?

I like dressing up in a DJ, (u.s. Tux?) and I for one will be hoping for the odd formal gathering in the new system™.

I have noticed this common denominator of all the pictures of the New Dark Ages. The men are dressed in casual wear, usually regular shirts and denim pants. The "sisters", however, are always in dresses no matter what. They never get to wear pants, no matter if they are out in the garden.

I wonder if the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger needs to heed its own advice to not be molded by the world--but a world that was in place when the cancer first started. The rules are Victorian, which was in fact "the way of the world" at the time. They need to get up to date on things, and realize that showing a little anatomy is not going to spell the end of the human race.

What I've noticed in a lot of those illustrations is that these men are "nicely dressed" without the tie while outside either working or relaxing.

Now, think about it, how many men really dress that nice to work on the farm (excluding the guy from Green Acres) or to sit around and play with a passive lion?

Even though they're showing these guys without ties, they're still depicting a highly unlikely style of dress. Very conservative, very plain. No individuality, no style.

Face it, if this new world fantasy were to happen, the After Armageddon handbook would have a whole chapter on when and how brothers are to wear their ties. It'd probably be like the old school cruise ships. Casual resort wear during the day but after 4pm, suit and tie only.

Jim you're also possibly right when you say that neckties won't make it through Armageddon®.

The guys in this illustration look as though they've had their ties taken off in a flash by the same power that's wasted the church.

Sacolton I can't wait to check out your thread about the necktie's origins. I've always hated the damn things!

Yes but the New World pictures are of people relaxing and having fun, usually a picnic with family in the sunshine, would they need to draw in a tie? That would look silly. Other pictures are of men at work, manual labour, so no tie needed..

I have never seen a New World pic of a formal meeting, an elders meeting, or admin work . When they do, will they draw a tie???
