Congratulations and best wishes to you! Being true to yourself is an empowering experience isn't it? Maybe you will inspire others to pursue a better life for themselves outside the WT too.

BTS,
Good for you!! After a while the hiding becomes tiresome and you begin to ask yourself why you hide at all. Then you realize it doesn't make sense even if it means losing the JW friendships you have. I too have started being honest with my JW friends about not attending the meetings or service anymore. They haven't put the elders out on me but I haven't heard from them since...but life goes on. Life is too short to live a lie or be in a perpetual state of limbo.

Big step there BTS. Good for you. Yes some difficulties coming your way, with JW friends taking their stand. However, as I have found, I lost some JW friends and family, but I have gained more than double that. Real friends, "that stick closer than a brother"
Welcome to the 'outside' BTS

I never did the 'fade'. I am too damned mouthy. That mouth assured that they would eventually force me out - which they did. I say what I see. I just could never hide the facts of which I became aware. I don't regret that at all.
Still, it hurt to be treated like so much shit. It still hurts. But I am gradually losing any love that I felt for these self righteous bastards. The longer I am away, the more I see how evil these people really have become.
While it can be 'blamed' on the watchtower, I have come to adopt more of the attitude that GaryBuss often stated when I first joined JWD. He said that his problem was with 'the watchtower people' and their personal hatefulness. I am there. The organization mislead them, but they are the result of that, and willingly treat those of us who left as evil, ironically.
But, BTS, I am confused. Didn't I read a thread about a year back that stated that you had adopted atheism, or at least agnosticism? You state here involvement in a church. Of course the two are not absolutely mutually exclusive, many atheists attend churches I suppose. Just curious.

CONGRATS!
I have to tell you, I blew up the whole thing all at once. I am so glad I don't have to pretend, although it was pretty traumatic.....
In a perfect world, no one would have to fade out of JW's borgdom. But it is a legitimate way to leave.
