Did You Expect Perfection From Jehovah's Witnesses?

They expect perfection from everyone, so when JWs slip up, I love to beat them over the head with it.

What I did expect was that they would fix any blatant mistakes as soon as they came to light, and not intentionally create problems where none existed. Mistakes and misunderstandings were expected--however, you don't stubbornly hold onto them and expect me to hold onto them once they are found.

The witlesses expected me to show a perfect face to the world. Being a Jehovah's Witless meant that you could be abused, mistreated, and kicked around and didn't need anything good to ever happen; and you would still be happy about it. You also had to live a perfect life, not only to not stumble those already in but to make the world think the religion was perfect (even with its blatant discrepancies). Witlesses are not supposed to have feelings of any kind.

I knew that all "fell short"... so I didn't expect perfection from any one person...

...but I did expect continuity from the organization. Even when "the light got brighter" I expected it to further an understanding, not change direction

Me too. I knew something was up with 1995 generation change and I wondered why an org led by God didn't get it right the first time. Also why men actively involved in wrongdoing would be appointed elder, where was the holy spirit?

YES , because they told me they were in 1953! As time went by I realised they weren't perfect,

BUT they did seem better than some other religions, I now know different,

They are better and very plausible liars than most others.

Once you know the truth about them, you know for sure they don't have the 'truth'.

We had a cop out drummed into us "all fall short of the glory of god"

I only was disappointed when they didn't show love - that was a biggie for me.

Did I always believe it was the truth - up till about 17 - believed it 100%. Then I started questioning a little, and felt we had the most truth. By 29 the scales had fallen from my eyes for good.
