I haven't really posted here much lately, i think it's because being old skool i cannot get used to the new format, but thought i'd check in.

I posted long and hard here the first half of last year about my alcoholism and attending AA, so thought i'd give a short update for anyone who remembers and gave me a lot of advice, which i am grateful for.

My last drink was May 30th, so i am now 8 months sober. I hardly ever crave or even want a drink anymore, if i do it's when i think that maybe i can handle one or two on a night out or something. But it soon goes, when my head kicks into gear and realise that i can't.

I used the AA alot in the early stages. I tend to do more reading now to keep my mind active on my alcoholism, i haven't given up on AA but have cut down drastically the amount of meetings i attend. I also use www.soberrecovery.com which is a massive help.

So thought i'd give an update, degree is going well and my scuba diving, two things i have taken up in sobriety.

I am so pleased to hear that you are doing so well - one day at a time!!

I know what a struggle it can be in the beginning and it needs total acceptance of being powerless over alcohol to succeed. Maintaining sobriety and being happy and at peace within yourself are what the AA Programme tries to help you achieve.

My best wishes are with you on your journey.

thanks for the link digger....as i did not care for aa and still am abusing the stuff.......not a good coping mechanism........oompa

i am not drinking as much as when my wake up nearly killed me.......but still way more than as a dub....not that being jw made me drink less...but because the exit has wrecked most of my life and psyche............oompa

September 31, 2007 is the date I say is my last drink to date.
I don't really remember which day in Sept. was the actual last date.
I have been going to AA occasionally for the last year.

    Congrats.

Good for you. Aug 29, 2005 here. OTWO, you're not the first person I've talked to who isn't sure of his sobriety date. Sometimes it takes a couple of days to notice what planet you're on.
