    Congratulations Paul!

My sobriety date is March 14, 2008. My one year anniversary is fast approaching. I want to thank you for this post, I have a bit of a tear in my eye right now.

I went through a terrific rehab program last year, then went to a few AA meetings. I couldn't get into them, too similar to a cult mindset for me. My wife has been the greatest support a man can ask for. When I finally admitted I was an alcoholic and reached out for help, she turned on a love cannon! I also took up Kenpo Karate. That has helped me tremendously to order my mind. I've also found the responsibility to a group and to myself that 12 step groups instill.

I never knew life could be so awesome sober! I'm also back to pursuing my degree, I don't know about you but learning is fundamentally easier with a sober brain. The science behind what alcohol does to the body and the brain is scary.

Paul, this post made my day. I've been looking for a way to admit my alcoholism here, thanks man! Keep it up!

I just went to the AA sobriety calculator. 328 days for me. A year ago I would never had envisioned I could go 8 days.....I'm also still humbled by the generosity and forgiveness of the people around me!

Well done to you too jeeprube. I feel exactly the same, just over a year ago i could never envisage life without alcohol, or even without the lifestyle and social circle it brings. The first few months were hard, but now it's just a way of life, that is so much better.

    Paul
