I just saw on TV that Obama is funding faith based programs, I have always thought that this could be an eventual threat to the secularity of the government and freedom of religious expression.

Over the last 8 years many people on the political left were calling the so-called Religious Right the greatest threat to the country. What are they now saying about their avatar of leftism?

Obama is not an "avatar of leftism", despite the hippies who like him. As you and many others have pointed out, he's quite moderate.
But yes, I agree that this faith-based office has no place there. One of the primary reasons why certain religions reach out to communities is to establish common ground in order to enforce their particular brand of morality and basis for salvation. Overall priorities will always be to "save souls" and not to "save lives." This is not to say that they don't do good work, but that the amalgamation of church and state in helping communities does not come without a price.
