I agree with John. I believe at first I might have done this a few times before I realised it. I think the reason why I and maybe others would do this is probably overcompensation. In the Borg we were not allowed to have an opinion that was different from the collective. Now that we are free to think we must learn from scratch, especially those of us who were raised in it. I have learn a lot because of the Internet and by having friends that were never in a mind controlling cult.

People identify too closely with their opinion and if you reject their, opinion they feel you are rejecting them, and they get all offended/hurt/iffy. I welcome a differing opinion, especially if one can learn from it, or it adds something of value. People don't only tie themselves up in their opinion, but their religion, their race, their political views, social standing. They believe that those things make who they are.
