So is this weird or really smart or does it remain to be seen?

Ok, I know he is capable of being really smart AND really weird:) My 8 year old son last night wanted to read the Declaration of Independence for his bedtime story. The night before, we went over the 7 wonders of the world. He is on a ancient greek/revolutionary war kick, with a little classic mythology (in conjunction with the actual history) thrown in for recreational purposes.

This is very different than the other two kids-who of course were very different from each other.

He is 8. I didn't read the entire Declaration of Independence for MYSELF until last night. To my 8 year old. I am 42. Maybe I am just feeling personally inadequate because I didn't bother reading past the first two paragraphs for myself in the past.

    g'day JWdaughter,

Just go with the flow. Encourage his interests. He sounds like a cool kid.

Just make sure he plays outside a lot and the nerdy little geek 'll be fine

You gotta think we have a political climate unlike anything................in my lifetime at least. He probably hears snippets of all kinds of stuff. Encourage the curiosity! It's ok now, the Dubs aren't restricting us!

My kids had thier moments along these lines. I remember one day I was in the kitchen, and there was a big group of kids in the living room, one of my kids calls to me "Mom! Catholics are Christians, right?" I mean this was a group of 8th and 9th graders, I figured they were talking about video games!

JWDaughter, right now with President's Day on the horizon, there's lots of political talk. I was listening to the radio this evening and heard James Earl Jones narrating the Gettysburg Address to Aaron Copeland music. It's that time of year!

Not a weird child, just a curious one. It's a good thing.

What am I missing? Why would that be considered weird? Sounds about normal to me.

I never was into much history, but before I started school dad showed me how to do addition, multiplication, and long division on paper. I used to sit down and do pages of those problems for fun. FWIW

I'm a history buff, so its sounds cool to me. I'd advise reading the constitution next. Most Americans haven't read, and don't know much about how it came into being.
