If he keeps going in this direction.... his homework may require private Ph.D. tutors.
So is this weird or really smart or does it remain to be seen?

My kids are kind of the same way. They always preferred History channel Fox News, CNN and talk radio. They are way smarter than I am about History and politics. I think it's really cool!

He's a keeper! When I was 8 I would read Greek mythology and HG Wells Outline of History. Then I made the mistake of reading the Bible. It got me into real trouble at Sunday school and church.

It's a crop of those dam indigo kids. They are supposed to be elevated w an extra dose of the jedi force. But, i know that they are that color from lack of oxygen, when they get their brains so wrapped up in something, that the brain forgets to tell the body to breathe.

Wow. You should be jumpin' for joy. Talk to him about the fermenting issues that led to the Declaration, such as the humanist movement in Europe and the rights of man. You definitely have a prodigy on your hands. Go with it and you might learn all kinds of important stuff along the way.

Thanks for the input everyone! Oompa, you made me laugh out loud-for real:)
On the "its that season" note, he has been on a colonial/revolutionary kick for some time now. It kind of morphed from what he learned about pirates. He is pretty much over pirates, but that brought us into privateering, which led directly into the revolution.
Anyway, you all should read it. It's not that long. And it kind of left me feeling a little revolutionary about our government myself. I was relating WAY to much to the experiences with govt. intrusion/lack of representation that they experienced. It really made me kind of uncomfortable to think of what they declaring independence FROM and what we have become. But maybe I am just feeling cynical?
My other kids were into vehicles/fluffy critters at that age (and to some extent, still are-more so the vehicles). I do think he is kind of an amazing and special kid. But a serious geek. Working on that, don't worry:)
