Has anyone here met or spoken to a Mexican JW?

If so, has the subject of the Mexican 'ban' or bribery issue been discussed?

I wonder what older Mexican JW's thought about the situation they were in and whether they could see through the farce.

If any group of witnesses could have cause to doubt, it would be them but they seem to be increasing.

Has anyone here actually discussed this with someone who lived through this period of JWism?

    Thanks

Sadly, a closed mind is a closed mind, whether it speaks the same or a different lingo.

Ahh yes... cartillas. I knew a mexican apostate once. Long time ago. He DA'd over it. All the JWs thought he was nuts. Well he was nuts but thats besides the point LOL.

    Just an aside....

I remember in the mid 70s we ran a separate edition of the annual Yearbook in Spanish for Mexico. It was entitled Libro Del Textos Biblicos (or something like that), both the cover and title page were changed. At the time I thought it odd and I wondered why the Mexican brothers had a different yearbook. Someone said something about it was necessary because of some opposition in Mexico. It wasn't until I read Franz's book that I found out there was no opposition. It was simply a decision by Watchtower leaders in Brooklyn who didn't want to submit to the then current laws regarding religious associations. So, JWs presented themselves as a "cultural" organization and did "cultural" work door to door, instead of portraying themselves as a religious organization!!

I've been around mexican JW's for many years and never heard about the bribe until I came to this board.
