When I do searches I keep finding files that need to be downloaded with Torrents.
Do the files downloaded with Torrents have to be read by a Torrents reader? Or are they in pdf or doc formats?
If you have tried it, is it worth the download?

Torrent files are something like weblinks to the actual files you want to download, but made into files that you can download and then import into a torrent client (a program, such as Azureus, that is used to download the file that the torrent points to). Torrents can be made for any kind of file, PDF, DOC, but usually large media files like AVI, MOV, MP4, MKV, WAV, MP3, etc. Bear in mind that the files are downloaded peer-to-peer, and so you are often uploading parts of the file while you are downloading it. If it is a large file, it might take a while to download the complete file if you do not have fast internet with a lot of bandwith. Also, the availability of the file that the torrent points to depends on whether there are "seeds" online; that is, people who have made the file available for upload. It is common that you can download an old torrent file but there are no longer any active seeds that provide the media file or document you want to download.
Thanks Leolaia
peer-to-peer sounds like an easy way to catch viruses. I know a few years back I used Napster to download files. Now I don't go near anything that is peer-to-peer
Something wonderful.
I'd recommend the older version of Azuerus because it doesn't have all the commercial advertising include as the newest versions have.
Here's a link to download version 2.5 http://www.oldapps.com/azureus.php?old_azureus=12
once you have Azuerus installed on your computer you can use it to download any torrent file you want.
It depends on what kind of file you are downloading and what site and tracker you use. If you are downloading programs or other executable files, especially from a public tracker, the risk may be quite high. But if you were, say, downloading high-resolution photos from NASA (which regularly uses peer-to-peer bittorrent for large files), there is very little risk.
Its a good idea to scan the file that you downloaded with your anti-virus program before you open it just to be safe.
One of the best search engines for torrents is pirate bay, here's a link http://thepiratebay.org/browse
