I would like to eventually hike the whole thing...

Any sections that you have hiked that you were especially fond of? that were difficult?

I have started this project by hiking the John Muir section of it and want to add to it bit by bit. I don't know if I will have the fortune (in time) to hike the whole thing at once...

Holy crud that's a long trail! I'd love to hike some of that. Maybe when I retire.

I've been as far west as Kansas, as far north as Iowa, as far east as Alabama, and as far south as south Texas. Why?

Not sure where it hits in the far n. part of the states, but I am sure it crosses the N. Cascade Hwy in N WA state. Most beautiful place on the planet. I have been to the Bahamas and Hawaii, and I have some perspective:)

Hell yeahs... the pacific crest is beautiful. Too bad it's on the left coast.

Many people have a shallow experience of a larger part of the world (whirlwind tours through italy-france-switzerland-romania in 2 weeks) without developing a true sense of place for their own part of the world.

This is why I want to have a slow travel through the state of California... (and the rest of the west coast...) on the PCT.

This is not to knock world travel of course! It is really important to experience other cultures too- something I have not done enough of.

Amen. This is only an hour from me--one of countless local places on my "to do" list.
