I never confessed anything to anybody.
And when I went to work in law enforcement they taught me in the training, dont tell on yourself.
It works for me.
Lying makes the world go round.
They even lie to the fishes.
And 99.9/10's percent of the people have no right to know.
Maybe 100%.
Most people aren't even entitled to a lie. It's none of their business.
Maybe 100% again.
I only spoke to them once - well several times over a couple of weeks.
I didn't feel better. I didn't think they understood and I didn't have the words to tell them. I went from feeling ashamed to miserable. Then when they DFed me I felt like thay had taken a knife and ripped my insides out.
There was nothing caring or helpful in what happened, in what they said or in how they tried to "help". These were men I respected and looked up to as caring people.
I would never recommend it to anyone.
A word of warning to anyone thinking this is the correct thing to do,

It's true that telling the elders means that they now have a record against you. You have a mark against you---especially if you're male. ANYTHING ever talked to an elder about will bne brought up to the others in discussing your "qualifications".

I never confessed anything to an elder or group of elders.
At the time, I felt dishonest and disobedient about not confessing a couple of things, but looking back on it I am so glad I never, ever sought them out to confess.
