But you CAN be convicted in a court of law for being part of a conspiracy.

Yes, all of my posts on this thread were meant in humour. While I believe little of what governments allow us to know, I'm no conspiracy theorist. I am somewhat distrustful of governments though, due to some of my own personal experiences and those of my family involving some elements in some governments. I won't give any details except to say I trust governments at least as much as I trust the watchtower.
However, if I were to mastermind a conspiracy I would ensure there were conspiracy theorists in place that could easily be discredited, feed them disinformation, and ensure they had a platform from which to spread it. Once their credibility is trashed half the battle is won.
Kinda like the thing JWs do with "apostates". Other JWs won't touch us with a ten foot pole or even look at us, let alone listen to our arguments.

i think its our job to distrust authorities, no matter how much we may agree with them.

Conspiracy theories still have the same objectives of many other well established things in our society (mainly religion, but philosohpy as well). They try to explain the evil in this world, why it is here, who is behind it, ect. The Watchtower has taken the path of conspiracy a number of times (even publishing an article that said there was a 'world conspiracy against the truth"). In the end JWs can't make up their mind if they are just some oddball protestants or full fledged conspiracy theorists. They end up being an bizzare mix of the two.
Remember, Rutherford published a book that said Prohibition was a conspiracy of the devil!

Good observation. I know lots of JWs like that. I have also noticed that JWs in general are suckers for conspiracy theories.
I don't accept the official explanation for everything, but neither do I expect Nibiru in 2012.

Once they decide to believe or not believe something---that's it. No evidence, no logic, no proof will change them. What a waste!
That's exactly why a lot of people believe that the Bible itself is part of conspiracy - that's a heck of a lot of conspiracy nuts walking around. sammieswife.

I was born in Missouri. Show me.
I'll accept a premise, a theory, even a hypothesis as long as there are facts, a cogent story, with a linear timeline that explains the conspiracy (including the motivation). That's not too much to ask in my humble opinion.
9/11 folks just don't do that. What I've discovered over the years is instead of responding, either there is a posting of some YouTube rant, or a rant that begins with "Oh yeah, well what about ... ".
And for what it's worth, I think the entire story has not been told about Robert Kennedy's murder or, especially, Martin Luther King's murder. I have several questions about each that are not answered. I'm not saying "they" did it, what I am saying is there are unanswered, legitimate, criminal questions.
