Did You Ever "Learn" Anything Because You Went To The Meetings?

Years ago, you could attend a meeting and hear a well researched talk or give an answer from the Watchtower that had some "meat" on it. I remember in the 70s when Witnesses used to look forward to ruminating on what might be a "new point" or a veiled possible new understanding of a doctrinal view.

These days, the only thing you could learn from a meeting is that Brother So-And-So got deleted or "is no longer a Witness".

    What a bore!

I did learn how to sit quietly for 2 hours and appear to listen to boring things...I definitely had the edge at school over other students.

As a child, I learned how to recite the books of the Bible in order. That was back in the days when the Book Study conductor actually took an interest in the kids and assigned them a project for the following week. It was a big deal to me to recite my "lesson" on Tuesday nights.

Yes, I learned that you can teach people complacent incoherent ignorance and fear and that they will in return respect and cherish it

with blissful pride and arrogance .

No wonder so many JWS kids brought up in this religion are psychologically screwed up.

Its like mentally screwing up your children without using drugs.

I learned the alchemy of turning volunteer donations and labor into a tax-payer subsidised property and publishing empire with billions of dollars of assets under management.

I learned how to daydream and move into a fantasy world in my mind.

I learned how to compartmentalize. I am now a master.

I learned how cruel and heartless people can be to each other and it was totally acceptable.

I learned the traits and characteristics of a cult.

I learned how I did not want to live and how I did not want to raise my children.
