i learned how to switch from position to position automaticly so as to appear awake........... only problem with that is if i started snoreing. how do you get around snoreing........ sit in the front row........... you know you will be the only one there......... everyone else will be at least two rows behind you so they might not hear.

guilty of the daydreaming and i will admit to taking a book to the meeting and if you saw my brief case open and me looking at publications inside it for more than 10 minutes.......... yup thats what im doing......... untill i got caught then i had to always keep it closed except when getting someting out or putting something in it.............. foiled again damn it.

Funny, I learned a lot years ago. But as time went on there was a dumbing down. When I gave parts I tried to restore that old depth I remembered. But even the pubs say little more than obey the "slave". There is very little to learn anymore at meetings. Or maybe it was that it became just so much repetition.

That you should not expect anything they showcase to actually happen. Everything is "In a sense".

    Miniimus,

Yes I found that man has got a long way to go to reach perfection,

I found the leadership to be immature, judgmental, arrogant, bloated with their own ego lacking in all common sense, prepared to break rules themselves that they may have just brought in for the congregation.

Years ago, you could attend a meeting and hear a well researched talk or give an answer from the Watchtower that had some "meat" on it.

Right On...That was before the "Big Brother" attitude filtered down from the top. These days going off the script is frowned upon, and if a speaker does do so, it is often wacky, not worthwhile....Even the WT answers are dumbed down The conductors hate thoughtful answers that migh steal their thunder , and they actively discourage anything not in the paragraph...

    Why bother going??

I learned that this religion doesn't belong to a God of any sort rather it belongs

to some men in Brooklyn New York.

Power should never be in the hands of the ignorant and the arrogant.

He did a huge slide show about the earth. He took all the pics himself.

Wow, that must have been interesting. Now, it would never be allowed. Only the society's outlines. No outside research.

I learned all the meetings I went to were the equivilent to a college education.

Don't forget the WT and Awake mags. I heard that many times.

Eventually, I wondered how that could translate into an Algebra class, or Chemistry.

The meetings could, however, have been used to write an excellent paper for a Sociolgy class demonstrating how an entire group of people can be coerced into following the directives of a few men, giving over their own free will.

When missionaries came by--- that really sucked! Especially when they decided to give a 2 hour plus slide program of their "assignment" in Central America! Who gives a shat?
