tend to put their lives on hold when they are with a new man. They tend to make this new guy their all. They leave their girlfriends in the dust and spend every waking minute with him and when HE IS WITH HIS FRIENDS they still sit at home and wait. **vomit**
I understand you want to get to know somone and thus spend time with them but surely you need some breathing space as well. AND DON'T FORGET YOUR FRIENDS.
There are a lot of lonely needy people out there LouBelle. Men, women, humans of every type and anti-type.
Tunnel vision is natural during the first blush of love and can go on to last a lifetime but usually wears off after a month or three.
I don't really belong in this thread .. I'm just making this up as I go along ....

That sounds about right. It sounds as if it's the women who treat themselves shitty during courtship instead of the guy. Notice that the guy continues to care for himself and go out with friends.

Because they're in love and right now, they're trying to feel the man they want to spend the rest of their lives with out. Your friend will come around in due time, like how I come around to my friends in due time.
but guys tend to not be that clingy - you know, they still hang out with their mates and have boys' nights out. The girl tends to be content with just waiting around....

Actually, most of my aquaintances are women.
As much as men need women, women do seem to have a certain "need" for a man that sometimes goes beyond reason or at least beyond what might be considered practical in terms of what the man actually gives back. I think that contributes to the appearance that some women are dropping all else to focus on this guy.
I think also that women are under more societal and perhaps family pressure to land a steady man. The independent woman who stands on her own and is her own person is a notion that is gaining ground, but I think a lot of people still buy into the notion that she's not "complete" without a guy.
