Why don't they want to know what they don't know they know??

I did a thread a few months back about how many dubs are JUST like us....they don't do or believe EVERYTHING the FDS tell them they should. Such as many dubs do not shun and many dont think only JW's will survive armageddon, many this college is a very good idea etc.

But I have noticed since i went super vocal trying to ENLIGHTEN my friends upon my wake-up, that not only do many, many dubs not REALLY know actual JW teachings, but they dont even CARE what they are or are not! This is so even for those in it for decades, but even worse with teens who just want to have fun. Nobody seems know about the four changes on GENERATION since 1994, they don't have a clue about Blood Fractions/issues. You can even tell them a long taught truth and you get "really?" or "i don't believe we teach that"..............i want to SCREAM!!!

How can you be an effective apostate when these people do not even know what they are SUPPOSED to be believing!!!!!...........oompa

They are very much like the old Commodore 64. Thy just run progams or what they are programmed to do. We are the result of the corupted hard drive and think differently.

Have you read Steve Hassan's book? If not, you're in for a pleasant surprise. Many of the items you've related to us make perfect sense in light of Hassan's books.

I notice the same phenomenon. I remember 1975 and saw many of my parents friends and one of my parents struggle and then leave. A lot of my friends don't even remember that. So when they changed the generation doctrine in 1992, these folks were able to swallow it easier, they don't even know about the other faulty dates. They know the tip of the iceberg about the sexual molestation cases, but they would consider sites like Silent Lambs to be apostate, so they haven't educated themselves about that issue either. I feel like I have seen a lot of hypocrisy, injustice and backstabbing in the congregations that I have attended, I would have never known how common that is without reading CoC and this JWD. They know nothing of the flip flops on blood or the UN issue. I plant little seeds but if I lay it all out for them then I am exposed and DF'ed. Very sad!

When someone first becomes a JW it all seems new and wonderful, they've found the "truth". After a while you start to see problems with the people and the teachings. In many cases the same problems they saw in the religion they left to become a JW. At this point I think many like myself go through the "wait on Jehovah" phase to correct things. At some point you have to make a decision to face the fact that you don't have the truth and ignore any of the problems you see and pretend all is well. The longer you do this the more callus you become to any problems and it becomes easier to ignor them. I think that is what happens to a lot of Witnesses.

It is so frustrating to try to get them to engage their brain,the problem is as you say,they don't know what they are supposed to believe,so exposing those beliefs as the Bull***t they are dosn't rattle their cage.

I had a discussion with my sister,65 years a Dub,a few weeks ago and I had to keep saying"You had better research that" coz she knew so little!

I really don't know what to do to get past the brain-washed cognitive dissonance that pervades the Dub phsyche.

I think just drip-feed stuff as we get the opportunity,after all that is the way we were all brain-washed when we grew up,or joined.

Describes my dub years with dead-on accuracy. I truly didn't care much about dub doctrine, and I could not have explained to anyone the torturous means by which the WTS arrived at the year 1914. Whenever anyone at the door challenged my "beliefs," I always said that I was sorry to disturbed them and left as fast as I could. That's why I describe myself during my dub tenure as a "reluctant dub."

LeavingWT i have not read that book yet, but may soon if it will help my situation. And Outlaw, part of my post is that so many do NOT do what WT tells them to...they just blow off whatever they want to almost. A lot of young people are gettin away with murder....livin la vida loca.....and i am GLAD for that for that but they need more sex of some sort anyway....but i guess it is just the overall genearal COMPLACENCY.....yeah, thats the ticket.............oompa
