    Hi Samielee24,

Interesting discussions. Next time you see them couldn't you show them Revelation Climax-book page 220 § 22

    22

The Revelation Climax-book tells that we live in the time of the second woe. But the third woe is introduced by the birth of God's Kingdom. So this shows that the birth of God's Kingdom has not yet happened. The year 1914 must therefore simply be false. How to explain them the First World War? Just say them Satan must have influenced the nations to get that war to deceive Russell and his associates that his predictions where true in some way.

For instance, Rutherford said in a Watchtower that Satan had fooled them to believe that jews are still God's special people.

I try once again. I do not know why the text disappeared and why a part of the text got smal letters.

Next time couldn't you show them Revelation Climax-book page 220 §22, it says:

"22 The final three trumpet blasts were different, for they were called woes. (Revelation 8:13; 9:12) The first two of these consisted particularly of the locusts and the armies of cavalry, while the third introduced the birth of Jehovah’s Kingdom. (Revelation 9:1-21; 11:15-19) As we shall see, the final three bowls of his wrath also cover some of these aspects, but they are somewhat different from the three woes. Let us now pay close attention to the dramatic disclosures that result from the pouring out of the bowls of Jehovah’s anger."

So, the Revelation Climax-book tells that we live in the time of the second woe. But the third woe is introduced by the birth of God' Kingdom. This shows that the birth of God's Kingdom has yet not happened. The year 1914 must therefore simply be false.

How to explain them the First World War? Just tell them that Satan must have influenced the nations to get that war to decieve Russell and his associates that his predictions were true in some way. So that the deception would live a long time.

For instance this should be a possible thought, because Rutherford said in the Watchtower that Satan had fooled them to believe that jews are still God's special people.

So if they are willing to admit that the 'truths' they told years ago, under Russell, Rutherford and knowr are NOT true, then how can they or anyone else be sure that they are not still telling 'untruths'.

Truth cannot change with time, only understanding and therefore they should stop procaliming to have the 'Truth' and admit they only have and opinion which could change.....at any moment.

"They said the Proclamation didn't mean anything and that they (the society) knew that errors had been made and so the past had no relevance on today."
"They had no answer for that except to say that the society no longer adheres to the teachings of Russell or Rutherford or Knorr."

If I understand this correctly, what they are saying is that it does not matter what was taught years ago - even if it was wrong.

If that is the case... wouldn't ANY religion be okay - today - even the Catholics - since what they did (or taught) years ago - doesn't matter - today?

(Not sure if that makes sense... it does in my head... hahahahaha)

Also... how does the supposed 1919(?) - or whenever it was that Jesus Christ supposedly came to earth - and selected the JWs - based upon their being the only ones who measured up - fit into this? If the JWs weren't teaching truths - or if whatever they were teaching back then - doesn't matter today? Perhaps they would also say that Jesus Christ never came and selected the JWs?

(Not sure THAT bit makes sense either... I think my 'religious reasoning skills' are not as good as they used to be)

    Regards,

    Jim TX

They had no answer for that except to say that the society no longer adheres to the teachings of Russell or Rutherford or Knorr.

And in 30 years, they'll no longer adhere to what they teach presently. The sad part is, the JWs who are still alive won't even notice.

I agree with Jim_TX. I was thinking the same thing. If they no longer accept what Rutherford or Russell taught then, how would Jesus had picked them out of all the religions in the world back then. That makes them liars and not giving out the proper food then. So there would be no way that Jesus would have chosen them. But if more and more start to believe that what they taught back then is no longer truth then surely the 1914 issue would go away and then they really will be in pickle.

Watchtower is the ONLY organization that meets the criteria for being the True Religion. There's only one problem. Watchtower has defined what the term True Religion means. They are ones that set the qualifying criteria. They've fooled the membership into believing that THEIR CRITERIA are actually something from the Bible, by promoting the idea of an Organization that mirrors whatever they are, at any given time.

1990 - God's organization would need to be knocking on doors telling people that those alive in 1914 would be alive for Armageddon. This would be one of the criteria for the true religion.

1996 - God's organization would need to be knocking on doors and NOT telling people that those alive in 1914 would alive for Armageddon.

    See what I mean?

Active, mind-controlled JWs have absolutely no historical perspective on their faith, as far as I can tell.

"I asked her if she ever took it upon herself to approach a disfellowshipped person and ask them how they are doing or offer some compassion or assistance if they need it. She did not answer...but she did start to cry. "

Got a twinge reading that. It comes from remembering who I was years ago. No matter how nice, respectable and logical a person and their argument seemed, "I" still had the "truth."

I remember years ago my brother was on a series of JC's with "apostates." They were in our bookstudy and they began just answering scripturally rather than from the paragraph, especially about "the heavenly calling." He told me after those JC meetings "they know their bible better than we do." I never forgot that. I was just a teen, and thought to myself "Huh? How did that happen?"

My point is, I wonder what she is thinking. Is she thinking "oh those darn apostates! Infiltrating our sacred spiritual paradise and misusing our precious "food" from the slave!!" Or will she get a twinge, a niggle at the simple and logical argument you presented? A seed is planted to be sure, if she was moved to tears.

    Well done again!
