I disagree with you on that one. I know because of a town I just visited, that in the late 1800's it was waaaaay worse than it is now. I am talking about Tombstone, AZ. Go there and look at the gravestones. Shot, shot, shot, murder,..... very few died of natural causes. Disease or old age.
You can even talk about war and casualties, not that you have, but even THAT has become more civilised.
TheIce - I am yet to hear of a girl that does not want to get married. If that is all that is holding you back it is nothing.
As far as world conditions, in every measure we are significantly better off than ever before. I saw an incredible scientific lecture yesterday that I will give the link to later that shows the risk of dying from violence now is the lowest ever by hundreds of percent. Since the 1600's era of enlightenment we have overcome the affects of famine, violence, war and disease at an exceptional rate.

There have always been and will always be murderers (not quite on the scale of God mind you); before guns they just had different ways of killing, but if I for one would rather be alive now than at any other time in history. Just think about going to the dentist even. Would you rather be going to one now than one even 50 years ago???
Oh, theICE, since when was it our responsibility to prove anything to you? And don't you dare tell any of us to get on with our lives. You're disfellowshipped but you still believe Jehovah's Witnesses are the true religion?
