Only went out once during a convention. It was July 4th weekend and over 100F. It was unbearable.
To top it off, we worked in a very well to do area and everyone was having a BBQ and swiming in their pools. Wanted to jump in a pool and cool off. Didn't care much about the non-responses from those who looked at us like we must be crazy.
Turned out they were right.
Yes, I remember going out once on a Friday afternoon. Was a total nervous wwreck. Did'nt enjoy it at all. Don't know how or why I did it!

Yes, in strange cities and even stranger territories. Los Angeles territory in very bad area which was about to be torn down. In New Mexico out in the dusty sun baked desert...one brother in our group got bit by a dog and his pants chewed and torn. However, the out of town DC's constituted our annual summer family vacation. AH, motel with a pool! Sometimes we would take the train -- coach -- 3 days and 2 nights cross country. Sometimes my Dad would drive -- Wts and Awakes in the car windows, my younger sister, grandmother and I in the back seat with the ripe bananas, and no air conditioning -- Summer in the Mid-West!
