What IS Armageddon?

I always heard Armageddon would be a spiritual battle.

Some people seem to think it will be some natural disaster.

JWs seem to think it will be the very hand of God throwing lightening bolts.

Is Armageddon the same as "Day of Jehovah"?

Is Armageddon when apostates of all religions become loud enough to overthrow the liars?

Is Armageddon when apostates are hunted to shut them up before they get too loud?

    Is Armageddon a nuclear explosion?

Is Armageddon the return of Jesus?

What is the Armageddon scene in your head?

Every pic in every magazine and book from 1952 to 1975.

    AND,

I found out today that there are whole villages on this planet that have been implanted with WT armageddon.

Can you imagine what it is like to be a child in a remote village where everyone thinks that WT armageddon is just around the corner and you will be shunned by everyone in your village if you don't give lip service to believing that?

I usually say "Cheers, Chris", but I do not feel that way tonight.

My family has been involved in this and I have only just found out about it.

I am extremely unhappy and feel partially to blame.

I have not seen those. From what I understand JWs believe that Great Tribulation has been in progress ever since Jesus and Satan arrived together in 1914.

Do JWs expect Armageddon to be selective or random?

Who gets killed....those who do not subject themselves to Jehovahs authority via FDS, or bad JWs who fudged on their timecards?

In the Baptist church we used to hear that the missionaries got eaten by cannibals. Were you from a remote village?

I bet many people here have similar feelings and similar circumstances. All you can do is go forward with what you know now.

Armageddon is usually depicted in the literature as taking all sorts of physical forms simultaneously. Floods, fire, meteorites, earthquakes, people rioting and killing each other, buildings toppling over, thunderbolts and lightning, very very frightening.

And they believe it will be selective. Those on the Prince of Peace's hit list will include all non-JWs, JWs who weren't quite zealous enough, and (if you believe an elder I once heard at a meeting) even good JWs who forgot to hand in their report that month.

That sounds more like natural disasters and people reacting.

It does not sound like a spiritual battle between good and evil, does it?

Well most of those things are meant to be caused directly by God in a controlled manner so as to kill specific people and protect others, so they wouldn't be natural disasters exactly.

    So are you asking for:

    1. The WTS explanation

    2. Our personal opinion

    3. What other religions/groups/individuals outside the WTS have said?

I have family involved in this right now.

Creating more born-in victims like myself. Worse in fact. These kids are being raised in villages of JWs.

When they want out, they will be shunned by their entire village.

Technically (not the religious viewpoint), Armageddon is nothing more than one final battle of good versus evil. In this definition, people do not need to die--all it takes is for the leaders to decide that the "Everything you do is what we tell you to" paradigm is too much work, and simplify the regulations, prohibit initiatory force or fraud, and cut out all the regulators. Soon after, the free market will solve most, and then all, of our problems. In this situation, no one will actually have to die.

The religious viewpoint is when God decides to step in once and for all time, to stamp out freedom from God. Society from that point on will be under the tyranny of a totalitarian rulership from God, and anyone that dissents from that will be put to death. Such a society would of necessity be dull and boring to live under, and one would feel stagnant within short order.

CAMEO-D- Armageddon is a fictitious battle in which God allegedly kills billions of wicked and saves only righteous alleged " Christians ". It is a fantasy which many religions use , including Jehovah's Witnesses , to keep their rank and file members under mind control through fear and guilt . It is a way religions keep control over their members. Nothing more to it. " Armageddon " is not reality- it will never happen
