@ diamondiiz- The watchtower and the masons book proves that the wts did indeed have masonic links. It's available as a pdf.

Also why don't you check out the manner of Russel's death in 1916:- he asked for his travelling companion to make him a roman toga to wear as he knew he was about to die. his faithful companion was puzzled and complied. I remember reading this account in wts publications and just thought that he must have been losing it a bit , but he was sharp as a tack, and a firm mason till the day he died.

The significance of that event is it's the way a 33rd degree high freemason wants to die, a fact i've had confirmed to me personally by a high ranking mason.

I do agree it's best NOT to be sidetracked and to stick to what's obvious without going down the conpiratorial accusation route.

What a curious response on your mom's part. It isn't the same as interpreting scripture, which is subject to human opinion, and can change over time. History is what it is. It can't be rewritten, and isn't dependent on the claims of the WT society. The Proclaimers book was published in large part for damage control, to offset information that had come out about their history that they could no longer suppress. Much of it is a matter of public record.

I wonder how the bound volume for the watchtower will be, since they are the to types now .

The public and the private editions.

    Does anyone know?

Actually, the WTS is discouraging jws from ordering bound volumes. The May 2009 KM "suggests" that they use their personal copies or the CD and not get bound volumes.

Not having bound volumes available is dangerous. How can they change what they said after the fact if they encourage people to keep the original documents, false statements intact without editing?

Does anyone have a brand new PROCLAIMERS book they would like to sell? Must look brand new, as it is going into a prison thast accepts only new books. For one of my friends who is a Christian, writing against the WT. He is in for life, so it is his project.

For what it's worth, Rutherford really is the force behind the JWs. He used Russells organization to start his own religion. JWs have very little in common with Bible Students.

It makes a lot of sense when you think about it. Why is it that Rutherford is supposed to fulfill all sorts of Bible prophecy while the founder of the Watchtower magazine never has a part in any of it? Why are the days of Rutherford so revered in Watchtower publications but the days of Russell are nothing but a blip on the screen? (such as can be found in the Socities "revelation" book) Because Rutherford created the faith, that's why. It was his religion and to this day it revolves around his ideas. Sure some of those ideas are borrowed from Russell, but many are not.

Jws make all kinds of excuses for why they believe what they do. So do a lot of other people. Realize that there is no objective "unbiased" process in your families mind as to why they believe what they do. Sure they say that they just want to "let the Bible speak for itself". They actually believe that such a thing is possible and that it happens inside the Watchtower. It's so idealistic and they are naive enough to believe it and will use any sort of nonsense to keep beliving it.
