When people are super bubbly/friendly/cheery, or constantly smiling ear-to-ear when the situation doesn't call for it, I immediately suspect they are either phonies, trying to sell me something, or suffering from bipolar mania. That is not really very fair of me, but that's what springs to mind.
I hate nervous giggling too. It completely grates on my nerves. As a woman I often find it's expected of me to giggle after everything I say. Not gonna happen.
I am watching Giada whatsername right now and she practically broke into a cheerleader routine over shrimp and rice. Her smile is so ginormous, it looks surgically enhanced. What's wrong with being genuine?
If you are familiar with my posts over the years, you know I am a big fan of humor. But I'm not bubbly. It usually has to be cerebral humor or pun, or I'm not interested.
When working in a restaurant I used to get in trouble for not showing my teeth in the dining room. I walked around with my Mona Lisa smile, which is quite natural for me, and that wasn't enough. I had to fake an Osmond smile in order to keep my job. I wonder if the men were expected to do the same.
When I was a little girl I was often asked why I'm not smiling. I used to respond, "My cheeks are tired."
Some random musings for your Sunday morning. Hopefully it's more interesting than what they're discussing at the kh.
That is all.
