    ol charlie,

seems like he might have missed his calling. Wouldnt the world have been a better place if he would have stuck to science and left the bible to the churches

Actually taking passages like "there will be grain on the tops of the mountains" literally would necessitate some kind of warming. In fact that helped me appreciate how screwed up WT teachings are. Imagine the polar ice caps melting. We'd be in a world of hurtin'. These comments don't make ol' Charlie the FDS or anything else divine. Otherwise scientists would be the Gods themselves.

CT Russell also said that Women must NEVER make Coffee, Tea, or Beer. Proof conclusive is in the Bible. It says plainly...HEBREWS

I don't think he got that piece of information from the meetings. Is he willing to look elsewhere for info about the WT? If so, he may be ready for more.

The power that one man can create for himself, is really the amazing factor in this story for its entirety.

    Here's a pm I got from Lurk3r:

I am out of posts for the time being! but your thread on the russell global warming thread rang a bell. Only cause i had to take note of it when i seen it.

its true. BUT, not a "perfect" prediction as i don't THINK the Antarctic is warming.

    Wikipedia quote:

    # Climate change. In writings as early as 1883 (and through to the end of his life) Russell repeatedly expressed the view that the world would see a significant but gradual change in global climate conditions as a prelude to the re-establishment of Eden-like conditions. These changes, he said, would include the gradual melting of the Greenland ice sheet, the Arctic and Antarctic polar ice caps, and the general warming up of the earth's temperatures.

So Chuck reasoned that melting the poles would bring about paradise whilst providing a mass execution tool for people, animals, and fish who weren't pleasing to Jehoho! Poor evil little Nemo. He should have gone in field service some more! If only he had avoided that bad association. LOL

Jimmy, I'd love to hear what your BIL has to say when you point out that this "prediction" came from.......gasp!........SCIENTISTS! Jehoopla didn't whisper it in Chuck's ear. Chuck was reading up on scientific research published at that time, adding a religious spin on it, and regurgitating it out in the ragazines.

Oh, and then you should let him know that if he accepts Chuck's ramblings as accurate, he needs to accept ALL of them. Including the one where you have to sleep with your head pointing North and jumping naked to cure a cold. And black people turning white in the New System and having brains smaller than whites. etc., etc.

If your brother in law is a CTR fan, I'd suggest having a "study" with him and the "Finished Mystery" book. Remind him that this was written the year that Jehovah chose the witnesses to be his people, and point to the glowing references to this book in the current "Revelation Climax" book. I challenge anyone to read "Finished Mystery" and not realize that CTR was off his nut.

I would like to say that CTR did not really write the Finished Mystery...it was compiled after his death from his talks and quotes over the years and applied by Woodworth and Fisher.
