I went to Sunday's talk and Watchtower meeting. Sorry to report..............Nothing has changed!

I walked in and as usual Elders are talking with fellow Elders. Busy with their book bags and papers. ( Why are they so busy?)

The singing was out of tune as usual.( How old are these song books?)

The Sunday talk: Is the Bible the word of God? ( Sometimes I wonder!)

Boring talk....monotone speaker....how many times have I heard this talk? Who writes this stuff?

Watchtower Study.....parrot answers...read right off the magazine.

Concluding prayer....thank Jehovah for the spiritual food from the ''faithful and discreet slave''.

    SEE.....YOU HAVEN'T MISSED MUCH!

While I haven't been in two years, I can imagine that some things don't ever really change.
What really cannot change much is the assemblies and conventions.

And it is only getting worse. You go to a boasting session these days, and there is less time for extraneous comments. They are expected to stick to the Washtowel instead of personal experiences with their comments, and I have seen more people read the comment in the exact words of the paragraph than I have ever heard in any other class (where such is just about banned under being asked to rephrase it or getting a "F").

That has been going on since the late 1980s. Reading the exact words of the paragraph may be satisfactory if it's just small children. But these are often people that are in their 50s and 60s doing this--they should be able to at least paraphrase it! Or, "Same comment." I have heard that more often than I care to remember--throughout the 1980s and 1990s, when I was in. Either those people are stupid and cannot paraphrase it or come up with a personal integration, or they are not allowed to do either.

The Sunday Talk, who writes this , the WT or the person giving the talk?

The person who is giving the talk writes it. He only researches from Watchtower publications.

R&R, you're right. I went to a meeting this past January and it was just the same - just as you explained. The Watchtower study had no surprises.

The speaker was just awful! I was truly embarrassed for the JWs there who brought any guests to hear this. He used generalities, tons of JW-speak cliché, used and reused about 80 words in his vast vocabulary. You'd hate to figure how this life-long member of the Theocratic Ministry School must have sounded like before he enrolled!

I'm sorry but if people are going to give you 45 minutes of their time, the least you should do is speak your best with art, pride, and enthusiasm in what you have to say!

Perhaps this is the reason why meeting attendance is getting worse -- the JWs are simply run out of gas and they have empty speeches to offer once they get there.

Simply awful! I was really shocked. I wonder how it must be at the larger assemblies.
