I have always got on well with virtually anybody I have ever met,and now in social settings I know people enjoy my company,by the invites I get and the welcome I get.

I think I owe a lot to the Jdub upbringing.my parents taught me to treat people as I wanted to be treated ( I think they stole the idea from someone with the initials J C but who cares)

I think those leaving the Borg need to lighten up.people are wanting nice friends, you can be that friend, get out there, have fun, BE fun and everybody will enjoy your company.

Just don't bring religion into it!

    Love

Grace, I'd never have a fight with you. I respect you for your age and your accomplishment. You are an example to me and so many others. I wish my mother could act like you but I love her no matter what! You are a sweet lady and I think you do care whether people like you or not. I hope you like me, Grace.

In "real life" (as opposed to what? It's all real, unless you're a Buddhist), I have a small group of close-knit exdub sibs and friends on whom I rely for companionship, support, and fun.

To paraphrase Farkel, "Dubs don't like me very much. I don't know why."

    Some people like my company.

Some people cant stand my company.

    Some people are ambivilent.

I have found that unless the people that like my company are my son or my wife

the ones that like my company want something.

When I was a witness, in my teens and early 20's, I do believe I had jw friends

that enjoyed getting together on the weekend drinking and playing games.

So we all wanted that kicking back socializing.

I dont have time or tolerance for that any more, but suspect many of the worldly

people I have since encountered have ulterior motives.

At work I think people like me in small doses as I do them.

I tend to talk about esoteric off the wall subjects

because I read a book or 2 every week, I dont watch tv, or follow sports.

And I am interested in the secrets and meaning of life, so 50% of the books I read

deal with the secrets and meaning of life, which I find 99% of the people are

    not interested in.

Why is that so? I suspect people are not interested in the secrets and meaning of life just like

they are not interested in politics or voting because they are too busy working,

and their brains are too fried out to think from working, watching tv, eating sugar

and whatever poisons we are fed to keep us numb and stupid and good consumers.

Yes, I'm very popular in many circles...was before and after being a jw. I wasn't popular while a jw but didn't realize it at the time. But after reading several accounts of how pioneers were considered special, I wonder why I wasn't treated that way. Maybe my jw husband creeped them out, or maybe he was marked.
