Shootout at the end of our block!

We have been up all night with the commotion going on here! We let the Dog out to potty at about 3:10 am, and all of a sudden we heard about 20 LOUD gunshot blasts. We got Chelsea back inside quickly, and within minutes the Police helicopter was above our house, and Sirens everywhere. Then Police showed up on our Street with their rifles drawn. They caught one of the murderers, but the others were still on the loose, and headed towards our street. One of the guys was in our back alley, and I was on the phone with the helicopter pilot telling him which way he went. I am not sure how many shooters there were total. Another cop with his rifle jumped our fence and cut through our backyard to get to the alley quickly. We locked ourselves up inside after that, only to occasionally peek outside to see what was happening!

Every week, there are gunshots in our neighborhood, and the helicopter is out usually once or twice a week, but this was a big deal this time! The helicopter was up over an hour and a half, and the cops only just left our street about 30 minutes ago. The news just came out with the story:

    Purplesofa,

Thank you! We are good, and were more concerned about Chelsea getting back inside because we have had the occasional stray bullets hit houses on our street. Our next door neighbor recently found one lodged in his Doghouse, and we found a bullet on our roof a couple of months ago! We keep to ourselves, so usually are out of harm's way.

I hope they catch all the people so I don't have to worry about any loose in our area.

How did OC (Ohio Cowboy) get to OC (Oak Cliff)? I have had many friends from the Oak Cliff area during my first 40 years when I lived in Dallas. It's strange that it can be one of the most dangerous areas and yet its one of the prettiest with its many trees and lush greenery.

Ohio Cowboy, I think last night was the most frightened I've ever been in the OC. I was in a dead sleep when the shots sounded and it felt like it just went on forever. I really thought it was closer to my house than that though - how scary for you to have the aftermath going on so close. Once the police helicopter started hovering, I realized it was farther away and went back to sleep. After my heart stopped pounding out of my chest, that is.

Do you really get gunfire that often? I only hear maybe a single shot two or three times a year, not counting July 4 and New Year's Eve.

I'm glad you and yours are okay. I lost your phone number after the November Apostafest and have been meaning to PM you and ask for it again.
