Tell him it isn't just an old book, it is living, breathing, life itself. It says so itself :)

Challenge him to read it and see for himself. Maybe a modern paraphrase would be well received The Message

Main thing is you need to pray for him and let God do His thing when the time is right.

Thanks to all who have posted,but especially to PrimateDave, I feel that is what I really wanted to get at, my son is really rejecting what is at the very least the book that has had tremendous influence over the literature that he has studied, and by dismissing it he is losing a lot.

As I have a willingness to believe that the Bible is more than just a mere book, I guess too that I am hoping if I can persude him to take a fresh look at it with an open mind, he may find something there.
