What proof does WT cite that the formation of JW movement began in "first century"?

Did the grassroots originate before Jesus came on the scene? Or was it during the time of his ministry? Or was it after his death?

In what country did this origin of JW's take place?

Did "Jehovah's People" have a name during that time? Were they a particular group of people?

    Good questions.

I have stumbled onto some fascinating information. I need to dig a little deeper into the research before I can present it.

Any leads here would be helpful.

Interestingly the Catholic church make the same claims. Plus they have far nice outfits in church, incense, better songs, confession so you don't have to keep a list of sins til you die and a regular opportunity to worship a piece of bread in a frame. You can also get some of the benefits of being a JW too like child abuse and suppression of same - all at no extra cost.

Gromit...can you articulate a bit? Are you saying Catholic church claims origin at same time as 'formation' of original Jehovah's witnesses? Do you have country of origin? Name of a particular people?...or how do they say it..."a people peculiar to god"?

    Thank you.

Cameo, the book "In Search Of Christian Freedom" by Ray Franz contains a chapter called "The Faithful and Discreet Slave Class" that might be of use to you. It discusses this very subject.

Until I have thoroughly searched every clue and know that what I am saying can be documented from reliable reputable sources.

And until I can put it into words that are more lively and captivating than the dry stuff I am reading.

I will give you a hint of what I am finding:

It has always been about the blood issue!

In thinking about this, I wonder, too, if the non-partaking of (blood representation) at memorial is a modern day symbolic gesture of the fact that JWs refuse blood?

Perhaps your Memorial really has nothing to do with Jesus....but is actually an expression of the non-blood covenant required in the JW religion?

After all, that is one of the main things that is supposed to set JWs apart from the rest of the world's religions.
