I don't use any and haven't for years - they usually caused lots of problems and slowed down the system so much that you may as well just have a virus!
Also, I don't think that they really provide that much protection.

Norton 2009 wont slow down your system like it used to years ago, I would verify that.

There is a balance of strength verse efficiency when it comes to anti-virus software programs and Norton in my opinion hits the sweet spot .

I personally wouldn't use their Internet Security or their 360 program, just use Norton Anti-virus 2009 is all most people need and

it wont bog down your system.

I save half of the cost by just going to a local small computer shop and ask for the OEM version which is exactly the same as the retail version

without the retail box and manual , most shops will sell it for @$ 25.00. which is more than half of what the full retail sells for.

Its $25.00 that I don't mind spending for a years worth of piece of mind for my computer.

I've tried the other free versions of anti-virus software and I didn't find that they had the strength of the ones that you pay for

which kind of makes logical sense.

If you switch to AVG, make sure your Norton is completely removed first - they have a serious conflict and your computer will run even slower!

    (I switched to AVG)

I love it when my friends get me to fix their computer. Usually they have Norton installed which is at least 1/2 of the problem. Once I remove it, their computer's performance has a noticeable improvement.

I don't use any AV software. You don't need it when you run Linux.

The Avira is free and I use it. It is very useful and has prevented bad scripts from being run when surfing the internet.

Just to reiterate my previous comments on Norton Anti-virus 2009,

its nothing like its previous versions, it uses less memory than ever before and it has features to it that the

typical free Anti-virus software programs do not have.
