Help on becoming a Jehovahs Witness

It is a commentary of a man who was disfellowshiped because he had a meal with his boss. He is the nephew of the man (Fred Franz aka the Oracle) who was largely responsible for the doctrine, interpretation and policies of the WTS(JW organization) (circa late 1930's-1980's) until his health began to decline and other Governing Body members (leaders) could dismiss his taped messages. Ray the author did as his uncle told him to and was honest to the biblical evidence he found regarding the WTS claims of divine appointment in 1914. However since 1914 is the source of authority and power over JW members the leaders didn't want to abandon it, thus putting their desire to be followed over seeking God. Since that time many of his uncles 'interpretations' have been cast aside.

Ultimately the WTS is an organization that expects its members to obey the dictates of nine men in NY as if they were infallible, to disobey you risk marking or shunning(disfellowship) from everyone who you consider a friend or family JW family member. The mother of A@G was recently disfellowshiped (shunned and excomunicated) for keeping a ongoing relationship with her son. Abused wives are told to not leave their husbands, children molested are also threatened with disfellowshipping if they talk about being abused against their Elder's orders . Meanwhile they condemn every other Christian organization as inferior when in fact they mirror the Roman Catholic Church in it's pyramid hierarchy.

You said you agreed with some of what you have learned about the JW beliefs. What are the things you agree upon? Are those beliefs exclusive to the WTS?

If you do not believe us, then we will happily supply you with Watchtower written publications that discuss these matters.

Also you would have to be baptized in the name of the Father (Jehovah), Son (Jesus) and Spirit-Directed Organization (not holy spirit, holy spirit was dumped back in 1985).

If you still want to move ahead I will give you downloadable links to the two study books, baptism prepatory book, and Elder's manual.

In fact technically I am and others here on this board are authorized to 'study' with you. In fact we have several Elders, Pioneers, and a couple of ex-COs (a CO, circuit overseer oversees 15-20 congregations). You will have the opportunity to learn about the organization in depth like no other Study Conductor (Bro or Sis studying with you) would ever bother to divulge before your dunking. You see we earn 'time' during your conversion that act as proof of good works to the organization.

OH and BTW..... WELCOME TO THE BOARD !!!

Sister Yknot, active JW for 35 years.

Gosh, can we at least err on the side of caution? The stakes are high. On the one hand, a young person in danger, on the other, all of us being duped. We could be duped. Big deal. This could really be a real 17 yo asking an honest question or, gasp, a Witness feigning to be one in order to learn something.

What a crappy board this has become.

    Your right Burns,

Like when I first read this persons post I should have kept my mouth shut.

I hope this new person gets what they need, I apologize.

Of course it's natural to ask if a book is for or against something you are interested in investigating.

There are plenty of people who post/have posted on this site and I don't believe a word they say. Some of them are prolific posters. But I tend to keep my trap shut and just ignore them.

The people doubting this poster is genuine were probably Linda's (fullofdoubtnow) best friends.

you can't read minds. Did Witnesses invent the words postive and negative?
Why not give posters the benefit of the doubt? So what if it means we get misled now and again? Better that than cynically trampling on new posters before they barely open their mouth.
For what it's worth tpadgett sounds perfectly reasonable to me

Gotta agree with Slim on this one.

Hey! How does it hurt us to give the benefit of the doubt.

    Btw Welcome Tpadgett

tpadgett, I was fourteen and naive when I got myself into that religion all by myself against my family's wishes. I thought I was learning the secrets of the Universe back then when I studied to be a witness. A couple years later I started seeing through it. They were always congratulating themselves, making it obvious to me that they were worshipping non other than themselves.

It takes a while when you're in the religion to see through it even longer to make a decision to leave it especially if you have family within it (I don't know if you'll marry your boyfriend). Almost everyone here is trying to warn you and that book Crisis of Conscience is the absolutely best book you will ever find about the witnesses.

I wouldn't reply to this person. This is a fake. I don't know what the game is, but all my investigator instincts, plus a couple of online searches lead me to believe this is a phishing expedition.

JW's, ex or not are an easy mark.

Tpadgett: I will give you the benefit of the doubt and take you inquiry as sincere:

The best way to find out how to join any religion is to ask them. Did the witnesses who contacted you leave any details on how you could contact them? You went through the official Watchtower site in the first instance. Is there any reason you're not going back to that site to clarify the question you pose on this site? Hope you find the answers you're looking for.

Why did this person just appear on the internet only yesterday? Why with a picture? Why with an incredibly idiotic request (online)? Why with first and last name?

No way this is for real. Sorry folks, there is no Santa and this person is a total fake.
