You must have a chaperone if you are to be alone with someone of the opposite sex, even briefly.

Not justify the dubs in anyway but traditionally, in Latin-American societies, a young woman from a good family would never be allowed to go out unsupervised with a suitor.

My grandparents experienced a bit of culture shock when they moved to the US.

I had a very uncomfortable experience due to the Jw's constant fear that 'spontaneous sex' would just break out.

I was a pioneer, about 17 years old. One of the faithful sisters in the congregation went out in service every week with the group. On this particular day, it was just her and I that showed up. We did the 'service arrangements' thing and headed out to my car. SHE GOT IN THE BACK SEAT, OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE CAR. She rode back there for the entire morning, rather than risk the danger.

She was about 55 or so at the time if I recall - she was literally 20 years older than my mother!!!

How did I last so long in that bunch of fruitcakes? Geeez.
