Brother swore on the platform. He was in the middle of a public talk describing the red sea of Moses day. Got to the part where the egyptians were chasing the israelites across the dry sea and said in a big voice, "and the whole bloody lot fell on their heads!" The congregaton cracked up...

    One of the better talks

One of the elderly änointed"sisters in my congregation during the 1960s claimed that she knew what was in the Watchtower magazine before it was sent out to the congregations. We younger witnesses were in awe of her, although I learned many years later that the presiding overseer only stopped a move to disfellowship the poor old soul because the CO told him she had dementia. Imagine, if the CO had not intervened this elderly woman would have been kicked out - she'd been active in the ministry since 1920/21!

It was sold in the 90's I think and it's now a buddhist temple I think. I have to look at it again on Google maps.

My Elders (almost 30 years now) don't know (acknowledge) my real last name.......

RBC doesn't know Elders made some recent modifications to the KH....yet

We have an un-cut copy of the 1917 Finished Mystery in our KH library (hmmm should I take it home for safe keeping?)

I was brought up in 3 congregations in 3 cities. The first one my father was the "Construction Manager" or whatever they called it back then. This would have been in 1953-1956. I don't know the exact date. It no longer exists. It was torn down some years ago and another bigger KH was built on the same site. I attended a cousin's funeral there about 10 years ago. It was all I could do to sit through it without running out the door and vomiting.

The 2nd congregation we were in we first met in a little white building. To be honest, it was probably condemned by the health department and that's why we no longer met there anymore. For a little while after that we met in the basement of the home of the assistant congregtion overseer. He was a plumber and constructed a makeshift bathroom for everyone to use. I have talked about this in another post. Needless to say, there was no privacy. Shortly after that, the congregation found a little brick building that had been some sort of store or business that had gone out of business. I have no idea what kind of place they meet in currently that would have been about 42 years ago.

The last congregation we were a part of was a relatively nice brick building with carpet on the floor and soft uphostered seats and nice clean bathroom, one for men and one for women! It even had a separate, "lobby" area where the literature counter was. It even had a telephone! I'm pretty sure they no longer use that building. I don't live in that city anymore and have no reason to go there but I would be curious to drive by and see what that building is now.

A young fellow, perfect example, wore a tie from the age of 2, gave first talk at 4, pioneer at 14, went to Bethel, back home married the perfect beautiful pioneer, parts on all assemblies and Big Conventions stated studing with inmates at the local jail. It came out a year later that he was having 'affairs' with these male students during the so called 'studies' He was DF'd, divoriced and back in within a year. No longer any title but I still see him 'out in service' from time to time...... They are all NF's.
