Mountain Dew Throwback is here, just nabbed a case of it. It retains the same name "Mountain Dew" rather than that stupid abbrevation "Mtn Dew".

Made from real sugar! Yum! It does taste much better than this crap corn sweetner they put into the soda pops.

Plus I'm reading that corn sweetner is being blamed for the rise of diabeties cases.

Pepsi is out with the same deal...

They used to have real sugar back in the old days, but it became too expensive for production. So they switched to corn sweetner as an alternative, plus it was cheaper. Big mistake on their part. Now with the rise of corn as being part of the bio-fuels industry is going up. Corn sweetner is becoming too expensive for production, so hopefully someday they'll switch back to real sugar permanantly.

I don't drink soda but my husband tried this Mountain Dew throwback and said that it tasted like diet pop. Apparently, it's not as sweet as the corn syrup version.

In my neck of the woods, a lot of people grow corn and it's mostly turned into high fructose corn syrup. Go Cargill!

It does from a can that can taste diety. It's amazing what types of containers can change the taste of the soda pop.

What would be killer is real suger MD in a glass container. Not aluminum, not plastic, but a glass soda pop. Nothing tastes more pure than from glass.

They should bring that back. Alot of other drinks out there still uses glass because they know it tastes better.

Meh, I don't do either. Give me aspartame.

BTW, you can get Coke with real sugar during passover. The Kosher Coke bottles have yellow caps.

I didn't know that. So do Wal-Mart carry them during passover?

    And it is wonderful.

I couldn't find it at Wally World. I found them only at a supermarket with a large kosher selection. However, the hispanic section at your local grocery store may carry the sugar based Coke.

My brother in law used to haul food supplies in a tanker truck. He said on the "kosher" loads, they would pay some guy in a funny hat big money to come out and do some kind of heebie jeebie incantations over the load. It was hilarious to hear him tell it. I guess you could say I don't have much respect for "kosher" stuff, or religion in general for that matter.

I've found Passover Coke (yellow cap) and Passover Pepsi (white cap) at Wal-mart, Walgreens, Wa-Wa, 7-11 and large supermarkets. They were around until about a couple of weeks ago. I still have several bottles.

I do want to try the MD and Throwback Pepsi. I wish Coke will come out with a full time product using pure cane sugar. There is a difference.

Isn't it amazing that sugar in soft drink was consider bad but now is considered good compared to what they are using to sweeten soft drinks now. High fructose corn sweetener is bad for your liver because of the way the body absorbs it. One of the reasons it became popular in the food industry is that it increases shelf life of products.

In my area Coke made with real sugar is available at Sam's Club and Costco. It comes in glass bottles and is bottle in Mexico. Pepsi now has Pepsi Natural cola that is made with sugar and apple juice. It doesn't taste like Pepsi but I thought it was pretty good.

Here in Texas, we have a few sodas that use real sugar.

Dr. Pepper is one of them. You're right about the glass bottles, too. It makes all the difference in taste.

Being close to Mexico, we gat a few imported sodas from that country. Mexico (and Canada) never got into using that High Fructose Corn Syrup as a sweetner - and you can still find things that use 'pure cane sugar' as the sweetner.

I personally believe that the high fructose corn sweetner is part of the reason that the U.S. has a lot of obese folks. It seems like they put it in almost everything that we eat.
