Saw Star Trek last night. Phenomenal!

I also liked all of the Trek series on TV, although some took a while before they grew on me. In the case of DS9, I didn't like it when it was on TV originally. But I watched the entire DS9 DVD set through Netflix in 2005 or so. It's definitely underrated.

Voyager was awesome, but again it took a year or two before it got good. The same was the case for TNG. If you watch the first season of TNG it's pretty cheesy.

Babylon 5 was phenominally better than Star Trek can ever think about being. The only thing that comes close to B5 is the latest incarnation of BattleStar Galactica. DS9 would rank a close third.

But, being a fan of anything Sci-Fi, including Star Trek, I'll be seeing the movie tonight.

I think I threw up in my mouth a little over all the Hugh Jackman stuff. I guess I'm gonna have to take my wife to see X-Men so she can drool over him too.

I was a Star Trek geek in my younger days. I played Trek RPGs and went to conventions, nuff said.

Loved TNG but my interest waned around the time Enterprise started -- never saw an episode of that show. I didn't like how it interfered with the backstory I was used to.

Now I am a total Doctor Who geek. A Whovian. I have Doctor Who on my mobile phone, on my iPod, on my laptop. But I'm game for a good Trek movie if I am in store for a good time. The previews did not impress me much -- they didn't feel like the Star Trek I was used to. But I will give the reboot a chance -- I loved what Casino Royale did for the Bond franchise.

"But what of those among us who do not thrill to the deep insights given by the parables and tales of earlier Startrek Generations??

Should we even sit at the same table as those who do not share our joy in Star Trek, The Next Generation,Voyager or even DS9?

Some of these later series enunciate concepts that earlier fans may find daunting, or even repugnant. Do we really want to be mislead by scenes of pseudo lesbianism, where male simbionts kiss a female?? But where else can we go to? Neighbours? Home and Away? Flamingo Road? DALLAS!!!!!!!!!!????

Those who do not realise there is no other "TREK" to go away to have abandoned the fictional picture they learned at first from the true transmitter. Sadly their treadwheels have need of major rebalancing.

Why, some have even abandoned the true path altogether and gone off to "DOCTOR WHO"?!

Look at the recordings of the old series. the crummy special effects the scientific gobbledy goo shows that there can have been no true knowledge when that series was conceived.

Alas we can have no association with those who do not continue in the true Trek.

LEO - YOU ARE DISTREKKYSHIPPED. Shame on you Honey. Now I have to spit whenever I have said your name.

I'm definitely going to see the new Trek. I liked all of the Star Trek series, but the original and TNG were my favorites. Now, if we're going to compare sci-fi space dramas, then the only one that ever beat Star Trek in my opinion was...

    Firefly

I really liked this movie even though I am not at all a star Trek fan.

It was really fun to watch
