Mary,
Nice outline. If the slang terms were removed, this would be a nice thing to print out and post around, here and there, for the sheeple.

OK, I tried removing the slang terms, but it's been more than 1/2 an hour since I posted it won't let me now......

I agree with what Mary has stated in her post, the biggest enemy that the WTS. has ever come up against
is the age of information of the inter-net,
Well, yes, that's one enemy I suppose; but the biggest enemy the Watch Tower faces is apathy in the ranks - that kills off active involvement in the organization way faster than anything else.

Scarred for life
But I think some of the apathy is being fueled by the internet. It's so easy to read about the doubts of others, the lies, the cruel treatment of those that have left etc.

At least in the States and probably other "1st world" nations, the "swagger" seems to be gone. You can only fool the people for so long, and most in these countries are smelling something seriously wrong.
However, as one who also was associated with the Spanish-speaking congregations in the U.S., I can say that the "swagger" is going at full-steam in a Latin American countries. Most of those associated in those countries are very "new" in the organization and know next to nothing about its history. When I speak to them about things I know about the Organization, they look at me like I am absolutely NUTS.
I would bet that the same is the case for other third-world nations around the world.

Marydoll,
To edit a post after the half hour cut off is simple.
Open wordpad on your computer.
Highlight the post in question.
Right click, select <copy>
bring back up the wordpad screen.
Right click <paste>
Edit in wordpad on your own computer.
Go to the Reply box at the bottom of the screen.
Copy and paste from your wordpad.
Press the <submit> button.
In fact you can produce your entire post on your own wordpad and take as long as you want to edit it, and simply copy and paste into the box on the board when you are ready.

I always thought that apathy was a lack of fuel... Once it sets in, it's hard to budge and is not inclined to go searching on the 'net. People who do search things out are anything but apathetic. In my observations, by far the bulk of people who drift from the Watchtower, aren't inclined to think to much about their reasons for drifting.
