the bible talks about hell, jesus spoke of burning in hell, but the witness claim there is no hell......can someone please explain their reasoning...same with heaven.

Until someone can show it to me, there is no such thing.

If there is, I'm going to burst it wide open in less than 50 years.

So in most of the fairy tales, God presides over heaven and Satan over Hell. God gets the good people and sends the rest to Satan to be tortured endlessly. Under that scenario, God and Satan have a good working relationship. Satan tortures the people for God.

Does that even sound well thought out? Doesn't Satan want people to disobey God? These "bad" people would be his allies. Why would he toture them? I'd think he'd put them up in the best places and thank them and let them party and have fun. Why would he punish them for not following his mortal enemy? Why would he even do anything for God?

So which is it? Are God and Satan co-workers with a good working relationship or the ultimate enemies?

Hell is a concept to scare people into doing what you want them to do.

For those that believe there is a hell, I would really like to hear a refutation of jws' comment above. Great reasoning!

The best Barbies are in hell lots of shrimp, beer and wicked chicks. Or you could sing Kingdom songs in Paradise with Witnesses.

I'd replace the word hell with religion... otherwise an excellent point.

Well, actually they don't believe in a literal, fiery hell. To JWs, hell is the common grave, not the place of torment. They take into consideration the literal translationsn of the words Hades and Sheol and have determined that it just means death and non-existance.

As for Jesus' parable of a fiery hell, they call it just that; a parable. Not meant to be literal.

They also use their own brand of logic to dispel the myth of a burning hell. They reason that a loving, merciful God would not stoop to such tactics. What's problematic about JW doctrine is that this same God that wouldn't use a fiery hell to scare people into worshipping him would use the fear of dying at Armageddon to scare them into worshipping him. The logic doesn't carry over from one scare tactic to the other.

I do not believe in a hell. I have been exploring and reading everything I can get my hand on since I walked away from the cult. I do not believe in formalized(manmade religion). Man taints everything he touches.

Here is a JW response to jws" comment above:

Which is why we don't believe in the same kind of hell other religions teach. Hell is just death. Satan "wins" if he merely keeps you from believing in or serving Jehovah, not if he "tortures" you... that doesn't even make sense.
