Ummm, Don, how did they know you were performing oral sex on your (ex) wife? Just asking?

Not going into any other religion's place of worship is insane. But, a good way to control you. They whole *You might get demonized* is always a good way to frighten the masses.

And, an oldie but a goodie: Can't go to someone's funeral if the person saying the mass will be a pastor or minister from another religious organization. You'd be endorsing that religion. Of course you would. Why show respect for a friend or co-worker?

Demons is a catch all frighten the masses term they can use for anything they want to control you with.

"Don't go here, there or anywhere" DEMONS!!!!

    Don't use the Internet. DEMONS!!!!

    Don't !!!!! DEMONS!!!!

And I believed it for awhile.

Yes thats exactly how they regulate and maintain their members by applying simple fear.

    Consider it self preservation,

Even though the bible says to keep testing the spirit continually 1 John 4:1 and be aware of false prophets.

I agree with onefootout...all that nonsense about the evils of oral sex and masturbation. And all without one single scripture to support forbidding it, just a lot of vague insinuations about how "unclean" it all is.

Humans live in a perpetual state of ritually defined "uncleaness" as we're born sinful (going by the Bible here, like they claim to do), so what's the big deal?

I don't know anyone who REALLY does that home bible study thing faithfully, do you? I've had a lot of JWs admit that to me over the years, they just don't have the time or patience and the kids hate it.

    Of course they do...they're kids.

That the greatest joy, is found in the full time work young ones !!!

I thus signed up thinking I would find joy in Regular Pioneering. I hated it. Getting up at 5am every morning,I watched the weather channel RELIGIOUSLY, every night PRAYING for thunderstorms or rain the next day.I used to feel really bad about it,but hey it was how I felt.

I drew the line at Bethel. While yes they got the hot ladies and women ( all my friends were married and OUT in a year.), it wasn't a lifestyle I was ready to endorse.

They kept saying that people would be miserable if they had any money--once, someone on the platform said that people are happiest just above the poverty level. Which was a lie: most people are happier if they have plenty of money to buy all the things that bring value into their lives.

They actually used the only rich type that did not enjoy their wealth as the typical wealthy person: the miser. They made every rich person look as miserable with their money as a miser would be--a miser is someone that, though being rich, cannot enjoy that money because they are afraid of losing it all. That is a complete fallacy--most rich and well-off people are not misers, nor are they actually miserable because of their money (only a true miser is miserable because of being rich). I believe they wanted people to quit their good jobs or cut way back on hours, and waste the time in field circus.

While I didn't personally pay much heed to that, I know of one family that did. They cut way back on their work, killed all expenses that were dispensable (cable, most entertainment), and regular pio-sneered. What they don't know is, when they get older, they are going to have a dinky little Social Security check that will put them well down in the poverty class--just because they tried to live just above the poverty level while they were working. Bad idea.

"The more important quality to look for in a marriage mate is someone who's strong in the truth." So I married a ministerial servant/pioneer. He raped me and broke my neck.

And he wasn't even good looking.

OMG, St. Ann, I feel sorry for you. I had plenty of stupid advices that I wish that I did not take them seriously. Oh well, it is too late.
