I thought the parts on wanking it was too much.
Because it made it seem that if you wacked it - that you were sinning.
I remember they made this joke the when you turned to the chapter on sex... the book said something to the effect of, "Ha ha... I told you you would check out this chapter first."
But I remember thinking, "No... it was the wanking chapter."

Yes, as a kid we 'studied' the "Paradise" book as well. Definitely in the late 60s to early 70s. "Your Youth" came later in the 70s for me when I was a teen. I think the "Paradise" book is still at my Dad's place. I kept the red "Your Youth" book though as a little memento of why I refuse to become a JW.

Crap, I must have read that wrong when I was still a loyal sheep. I thought the statistic is that 98% of people masturbate daily.
Learning that boys and girls, guys and gals CAN just be friends. This has been proven to me by girlfriends' husbands being my friends, too, and it's not weird.

That goes for the girls too. All of th hot JW girls were worldy or spiritually weak. I can glady say my JW GF is both Hot and Spiritually weak.
Now that I'm older I would say to everyone young and old, " Masturbate whenever you want- it feels good and relieves stress. " Now THAT'S an answer that works- guaranteed
I've never understood the needless moralizing about masturbation among Witnesses, except that it's part of their general weirdness about sex.
It's so normal to do it that even fetuses in the womb masturbate. What are you going to do to stop THAT? Spank their hands in utero?

mindmelda... The only conclusion I can come up with is that it's about controlling people's lives, particularly the pleasurable aspects. There seems to be this understanding among JWs that if you enjoy life, especially sex, you will become evil in some way or you're not serving Jehovah enough. I mean, if you're spending your 'free' time having sex or masturbating you aren't serving Jehovah the WTS.
