BONAFIDE- Good job of making these witnesses think with an open mind ( or attempting to ) so they can use their critical thinking ability. The leaders of the WT society always justify why they have changed views as the alleged " new light " over the years , i.e. 1975, no sealing of the anointed by 1935, different view on what constitutes a " generation " , views of whether oral sex in marriage is a couples choice- or the WT societies choice, I mean the GB has CONSTANTLY changed their views on an endless stream of issues.

In Steve Hassan's book " Releasing the Bonds" he describes exactly what you were going through with the brother telling you to be careful and in HOW you disagree with the alleged " slave ". On page 44 Hassan mentions that in mind control cults what occurs is " rejection of rational analysis, critical thinking, constructive criticism . No critical questions about leader, doctrine, or policy seen as legitimate. " And also this , that " Cult members are taught that the leader is always correct, and are not allowed to doubt or question him or her. Thoughts that go along with the leader are good. Any other thoughts need to be pushed down by chanting, praying, or speaking in tongues. Any negative feelings are always blamed on the individual. " So I assume you were experiencing this from your fellow witnesses while having lunch. Hang in there - it will end. Perhaps someday you won't have to associate with them. Sincerely, Peace out, Mr. Flipper

What a great article this was. For years there have been discussion's about this subject. In fact, my wife and I disagreed about the answer to the question.

It was very humble of them to say 'we don't know'. And to admit they shouldn't have taken the stance they did. Props to them. Everyone at our hall loves this article. Esp the sisters

Very good point, in fact excellent point. If only that had been followed to a way larger extent, much would have been gained. Expelling people, only for those people to find out five years later that meanwhile the position of the WBTS has changed to being exactly the position for which theywere expelled five years earlier - must be "rather terrible".
