Hello everyone! This is my first post. I was a born in JW and baptised as a teen. I have faded over 20 yrs. ago, and have almost forgotten all of my JW past. EXCEPT for SOME of my family. I have been shunned because, well actually I really don't what their reason is, they aren't telling me. I have some UBER DUBER relatives that I have wrote off as hopeless, and I am way over them. The reason I am inquiring on this forum about them is, THEY HAVE CHILDREN. They are now officially all over age 18! I can contact them. What are my chances? Are they uber dubers and I should forget it, or are they just hangin in there? Or better yet OUT!

Anyone who has been in N. Cal for the past 30 yrs. probably knows them. I don't want to mention their names. Please pm me and we can go from there.

OK, no names. How about an area? NorCal is a big place. I'm from the San Francisco Bay Area, born and raise on the peninsula, mainly in San Mateo county (between East Palo Alto and San Carlos). Spent a lot of time in the Madera/Fresno area, got jw and nonjw relatives down there.

Not from Calif-but wanted to welcome you and caution you not to get your hopes up.....if you've read posts here for some time you've seen how many have been hurt from shunning.

Still, you never know....just be prepared.

I lived in the Sacramento area for about twenty years starting in 1986. I might know them.

Welcome, Orphan Annie! I can't help you out as I don't know your family but I am excited to see you here and to read your story as it develops!

Selfishly, I hope you are able to connect with the children of your JW family - because I have a nice and nephew who are really little and I have hope that one day when they turn 18 we can know each other again!

Quandry, thanks for the warning, but don't worry about me. I have been shunned for 20 yrs. and it doesn't bother me in the slightest. I expect it!

GoddessRachel, I hope you will get your wish one day. Those poor children have been denied their Aunt. You can only hope that when they become adults they will be able to get out of this cult. I am trying to make contact with my nephews. I can't expect them to contact me. They don't know me. It is my responsibility.

MrsJones5, I know I was being pretty vague on the area they are from. Elder Dad gives talks throughout N.Cal. so I was hoping someone might know of them. As I give out bits of other info I don't want anyone to narrow it down to them. But, I will give out details and names in a PM.

To the rest, I sent PM's, except MrsJones5, I can't figure out how to send a new PM. I just know how to reply. This is all new to me. Sorry, and thanks for your reply.

I lived in Nor Cal (Mendocino County and Humboldt County) until 2004 with a brief break (1997 - 1999) when I lived in Colorado.

To send a PM, Click on "Members" then click on the letter of the alphabet that your intended PMee name starts with. When thier profle comes up, there is a little button to click on (maybe at the upper left or right) that says "send message".
