Yeah, I know the Solstice is a great little pagan holiday. Ain't it grand!!!

And what do you mean England doesn't do much for the solstice ISP?? Hell those druids and Celts just about invented the thing!!

And thanks to the rest of you who turned this post into another little insult-fest! Why can't we just all get along, to coin a phrase!!

    Love ya all,

    Paganism

What is so pagan about nature based celebrations anyway? Don't christians believe god created the sun, moon and earth? Don't we depend on the natural effects of these? Food grows under the suns rays. The moons tidal pulls affect not just the oceans, but also plant chemistry, wild and domestic animals and our own brains. The ot jews' lives were ruled by the seasons. Has god turned nature and natural forces over to the devil, or is god in and ruler of nature as well?

Personally, i enjoy sunshine and sunsets. The day after tomorrow, the daily sunlight will start to increase. While i'm not into celebrating it, i am glad about it. Therefore the development of a solstice celebration seems perfectly normal to me. Genesis quotes god as saying something like he gives the luminaries as SIGNS. Luminaries govern the day and the night - genesis.

Have a joyful rowdy Solstice celebration...
    a happy Christmas...
or whatever holiday floats your boat...

and may all the tightassed prim Christerbabblers enjoy their frowny disapproving joyless whinging days and nights while the rest of us are partying with our beloved friends and family!

Love and big sloppy mistletoe smooches,

Brightest Blessings for the Solstice everyone! :)

    Winter Solstice

Winter Solstice also known as Yule, Christmas, and Saturnalia, occurs in mid December. It celebrates the birth of the new Solar year and the beginning of Winter. The Goddess manifests as the Great Mother and the God as the Sun Child. The God also appears as Santa Claus and Old Man Winter. Colors are Red, Green, and White. This is a festival of inner renewal.

Strengthen bonds with family and friends by visiting and/or exchanging gifts and greetings. Decorate your home with lights, greens, and holiday colors. Bless your home with a Yule wreath on your front door and sprigs of mistletoe inside. If you are part of a group, take up a collection of food and/or clothing at your Yule gathering and give what you collected to a social service agency to distribute to the needy. Place sunflower seeds outside for wild birds to feast upon. Greet the Sun at dawn on Solstice morning by ringing bells. Do magic for a more peaceful planet.
