    So, what about Wolverhampton?

    Pride of England!

Eventually, someone in the group compared Southerners to folks from Wolverhampton. The implication was, "country folks", uneducated and unsophisticated, etc. All in good humor, of course.

What a croc o' sh*t, we're from the Midlands, not the south, not the north. 'country folks', my a*se. Uneducated??? I'm doing a law degree, don't you know??

Wolverhampton is in the Midlands - which is the Rust Belt of the UK - its like Detroit or something I guess....

    Detroit???, what???...get outta here

I wouldn't sterotype Woverhampton like that - its very much an urban area, albeit in decay.

In decay???...have you been to Wolverhampton??....sounds like you're talking about Glasgee

Sylvia, you are more than welcome anytime to sunny Wolverhampton...i'll show you around. Anything you need to know i'll tell you from the horses mouth, instead of listening to these greasy northerners, southern softies or inferior scots :-)

For your parousal..... (we're the one's in Gold and Black)

Never been to the USA, but Europeans believe that amaricans don't know much about Europe.

I'm from Holland and we think americans still believe we al walk on wooden shoes and live in windmills...

Many times when an american apears in a dutch comedy, they have the folowing onliner...

American says: Your from Holland? I love Kopenhagen....

My question is: Is this true or are we totaly wrong?

    You are totally wrong.

I even know about the Zuider Zee, and I'm from Lower Alabama.

That is not true. My wife worked at P&O Nedlloyd, at the time the world's largest shipping fleet, and the local management was all from the Netherlands (of course). Rotterdam of course is the largest shipping port in Europe. It was a great job for her, she got to travel all over the Caribbean auditing branches.

I'm from Worcestershire - within easy reach of the city of Birmingham (Broad Street being full of pubs and restaurants on the canals there). We have more canals than Venice which extend throughout The Black Country, which is also local to me. Black Country dialect is in a class of it's own, lol - the Old Testament (and Gospels) is available in Black Country (and a better translation of the Bible than the NWT, lol). Where I went to school there were no black pupils - the first one (and it was just the one lad) started the year I was leaving. Well said didgeridoo besty - how long have you been away from Scotland...and why..? lol

Apparently the first black person I met was the nurse that helped me and my mama when I was born. By the way it's pretty cool when you meet a black guy with a strong English accent. :-) They are mostly from Jamaica, no?
