yes since 1914 in this I accept Jw teachings it makes sense, the same bible chronology led people to be expecting Jesus's arrival the first time, also I look around me and see that we are heading towards self-destruction, our willful blindness to consequences is what will destroy us. we are to powerful.
If some had said to us 10 years ago and bet some did the dangers of all the unlimited borrowing with the banks throwing money at us would lead to a worldwide recession would we have listened?
We didn't listen and there are many things we are still not listening on, as we cut through the last of the rainforests and use all our earthly resources. Feeling safe in our current luxuries.

I think that one important distinction between the absolute statements of the WT and the OPINIONS given by Apostles are exactly that-a distinction. The apostles said "I think I have the spirit", "This is what we think and feel led to say it". They didn't say "Obey us or you are apostate-no matter what kind of nonsense we are saying!" "If you don't do what I say, you don't love Jesus!". "You are a hater of the truth if you don't agree with my understanding". They simply tried to teach what they had learned from Jesus and the HS. And they applied what they KNEW. And they backed off when shown that they were WRONG. They didn't blame the Gentiles for the lack of understanding that those Jewish men had about circumcision!

My reply: Except the scriptures show that the last days began in the first century.
Acts 2 (speaking in regard to the Holy Spirit just poured out)
No, this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel:
17
'It will come to pass in the last days,' God says, 'that I will pour out a portion of my spirit upon all flesh. Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams.
18
Indeed, upon my servants and my handmaids I will pour out a portion of my spirit in those days, and they shall prophesy.
19
And I will work wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below: blood, fire, and a cloud of smoke.
20
The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the coming of the great and splendid day of the Lord,
21
and it shall be that everyone shall be saved who calls on the name of the Lord.'
When according to Acts did the last days begin? Jesus in Matthew 24 tells us to beware of false prophets...he tells us events such as war and famime, pestilence will continue to happen thruout history but the end is not here. He wanrs against exactly what the WT does- use events to claim the end is near.

I sometimes wonder what one appostle would feel if he could see what we are doing today? would he have any doubt we were in the 'last days' would he be horrified at what we watch on TV, how everything is sexualised how our children don't have the father's in a lot of cases to bring them up in God's way.
Part of making your unbelievable beliefs into acceptable beliefs is becoming enchanted with the past setting and over-romanticizing it.
Perhaps the apostle would be in shock that the last days did not end in the first century- even the inspired ones expected the end in their days. Would TV be worse than life was back then?
Just killing a chicken for dinner was gruesome. Let alone, what the soldiers did to people, public executions, wars.
Most fathers were not around back in the day- if they were, they were working all the time same as today. Many men were getting teen (or younger) brides pregnant who would raise the child- talk about sexualizing. And don't think that families were all having Bible studies like the JW's picture it. They didn't even have books. It got dark when everyone was done working, they went to sleep from long hours of hard work. Some preacher told them what to believe.
