I only have one question. Who cares? He was an entertainer who made some great music. What the hell is with all the hero worship? Am I missing something?

I don't think it's hero worship. The man was gifted with an ability to dance that was mostly unmatchable. He was untrained. All of that came from somewhere inside him. His song writing/arranging was pure, amazing genius. He brought magic into so many of our lives from the time were little kids and on into adulthood. He stood out amongst billions of people, including many, many entertainers. It's proper that almost any human has a few words said over him/her when he/she dies. Michael deserved the many beautiful words and tributes said over him.

We aren't Jehovah's Witnesses anymore. Now we can enjoy this kind of memorial service without their influence or guilt trips.

Sorry FHN, I find the whole thing slightly disgusting. Twelve days ago, I felt sad. Twelve days ago, my kids and family played his music for hours. Today, the songs stick in my throat, and I'm embarrassed at the display.

Not worshipping MJ, but admiration. We lost the "old" MJ before his mind got warped away from reality and into broken dispare. We lost the "magic" of MJ long before he died and now that he is dead, I can only hope that the torment that he's suffered in silence is finally in peace that he prolly been seeking since the abuse from his father began.

Yes, indeed. You are Flying High Now. Can't imagine you're reaction if somebody of real substance died.

I care. A fellow human being died and my heart goes out to his family.

What the hell is with all the hero worship?

Maybe you should go back and read my post. I've never said he was a hero or role model. And worship? You strike me

as a former JW that would have been one of the judgemental type at the KH without all the facts. Were you an Elderette

    by chance? Just curious.

    Am I missing something?

Maybe you're missing the fellow feeling or agape love that it is nice to show others when they're in a time of hurt, sorrow

    pain etc.

My only point in even posting this has nothing to do with hero/creature worship or adulation.

It's that many people die each day and hardly a word is said about them other than close family. It would be nice to

know that we had a positive impact on people and that so many cared about us when we are gone.

I would rather be known as a empathetic caring person about others rather than as some in this world come across as

being arrogant or self-centered and when someone dies just feeling like oh well it was bound to happen sooner or later.

And beks even tho I don't know you in real life, if I heard you passed away I would feel a certain sense of loss just by

reading your posts from other threads and knowing that someone somewhere lost maybe a sister, mom, friend etc.

I believe he was of real substance. I listened to him talk about the abuse by his father, last night on CSNBC. His father is a lot responsible for his eccentricities. I am surprised by all the attention he has received. I knew he was loved, but not how loved. I see it as appreciation of the gifts he has given us and sadness over collective loss. On the other hands, I can see how this could be overkill for some people, the amount of coverage he has gotten.

He was untrained. All of that came from somewhere inside him.

He worked with voice coaches, song writers, musicians and choreographers like any other performer.

Here's an example: 'Bad' Choreographer Remembers Michael Jackson

Granted, you really liked the guy FHN, but must you pull stuff out of thin air?
