OK, so we're not JWs anymore. Does that mean that we should worship a human being just because we can? Some here seem to make Michael Jackson into some sort of demi-god. Yes, some cultures worship a stick of wood, I get it.

But I agree with those who are appalled by the near mystical reverence accorded this talented but disturbed man. This is troubling because Jackson is an example of mental illness, lack of resilience, and likely, sexual abuse of children. Many of us here had less than ideal childhoods. Why not admire someone who overcame that fact to build a worthwhile life rather than idolize someone who let it make him into a sad freak?

Someone said they saw his ghost at Neverland. Maybe his poor tortured soul is not yet ready to meet God. I want to cry.

I think just because we enjoyed the Memorial for MJ does not mean it's hero worship.

I would hope the Memorial shows people that entertainers are just that, there are real

people inside there, Some of us are balanced in our view of those that are strangers to

us personally, but we have appreciated what they give to us artistically.

Umm I think he played the part of the Scarecrow, not a stick of wood. But I get what you're saying.

As it should. Bless you, my child. Go in peace. Sin no more - (or as little as you can possibly manage. )

Yes, balance is the key word. And the rhetoric, on this thread alone, leads me to stand very firmly on my words: worship, reverence, demi-god and oh!, did I mention idolatry? Get a grip, folks. He was a (very) flawed human being. Don't make me do an inventory. Let the man GO.

No offense intended, but ya'll sound like you are quoting Watchtower Publications. Now that we are out of the org, We can buy our guys Jimi Hendrix t-shirts for their birthdays.
