When I responded to Highdose's thread earlier and mentioned Skinny Dip Cologne, I really started to reminisce.

Does anyone remember stuff like Afro-Sheen, UltraSheen, Hoyt's Cologne, Royal Crown Hair Dressing, Avon's To A Wild Rose Perfume, E. F. Young, Jr's Pine Tar Shampoo, and Jean Nate' Pour Le Bain?

Also, Mum deodorant, Cashmere Bouquet Body Powder, and Camay soap.

Those were my favorites during those times.

    Any takers? :)

Camay was on my countertop until I couldn't find it in the stores--which was just a few years ago.

My Mom sold Avon. She had samples all over the house. My dad used Vitalis on his hair. It was some greasy stuff to make it stay in place.

I remember Beer on Tap and Gee, Your Hair Smells Terriffic shampoos.

Remember the High Karate cologne for men? There was also a musk cologne for women. I believe Jovan made it. A teen aged sister in my congregation wore it and I thought it smelled really good on her.

There was also Toni perms. I got one at age 10 and it never grew out. I still have wavy hair.

I was too young to wear makeup and so do not recall many cosmetics from that era. My mom sold avon and I remember her samples of lipstick, etc. Avon also had colognes named Sweet Honesty, Moonwind (my favorite), and Bird of Paradise.

I remember my mother wearing a cologne called White Shoulders. I hated that cologne and why my sweet mother wore it, I'll never know.

Speaking of my mother, I remember the garters she used to wear. Pantyhose hadnt come along yet. At least not in the little southern town I grew up in.

    Yes!

Then there was Mennen Aftershave Splash, Bonne Bell Lip Smackers, Dippity-Doo Gel, and Clairol Herbal Essence Shampoo.

    Memories!

The shaving cream ad, "Take it off, take it all off" or Brylcream, A Little Dab'l do 'ya". I remember having a little tin of Butch Wax.

What about over the counter remedies? Ben Gay? Carters Little Liver pills? Lydia Pinkhams womens tonic? Phillips Milk of Magnesia? Fletchers Castoria? Bacteen?

Fletcher's Castoria and Black Draught I remember well!

I tried Lydia Pinkham's for menstrual discomfort and promptly threw it up.

    What is Butch Wax?

    Bonne Bell Lip Smackers,

Didn't Bonne Bell also make a blush that went on clear and changed to the color you were supposed to naturally blush? What an invention!

    Dippity-Doo Gel

Ah, the days before blow dryers. I remember the hooded hair dryer my mom had. It used to take a long time to get dolled up to go out on the town or to the KH.

Remember Noxema skin cleanser? I loved that stuff. I wonder if they still make it and if it would do as good of job on my mature skin as it did on my younger skin?

    Yep, I remember Noxema.

Also Black & White Soap, Pond's, and Palmolive soap!
