I don't know the construction of Hebrew, but I suggest that (since Yehovah [simplified Strong's transliteration] and Eloahh [simplified Strong's transliteration] have the same vowels), the vowel sequence e,o,a may have some special grammatical significance in Hebrew. Perhaps that can be explored.

Spike: Pronunciation is not the key issue about Jehovah and his name.

Great! I think I'll pronounce his name as Orby Fleener. Spike, you are now one of Orby Fleener's Witnesses. Has a nice ring to it, doncha think?

let us not stoop to obscene jesting. And officially, I am still under the latest official pronouncement, read by the then service overseer several years ago:— [Spike Tassel] is NOT once of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Whats in the name anyway? Even Jesus is not the exact replication of the Greek name ... God is intelligent ... and so he will understand the complexities of translating...

And i dont seem to know any scripture in the Bible which prohibits people from pronouncing his name... In fact the Old Testament prophets and many others in the Old Testament did call out to him using his name. Why would he reveal his name, if he wanted people not to use it!

This idea of God not wanting his name to be used arose from Jewish traditions and is quite a vivid example of how the Jews embraced style over substance. Profaning God's name refers to doing things against God's principles while claiming as God's people. It is not over-pronouncing God's name.

Spike- are you saying there was an annoucement made that you were no longer one of JWs?

I was in the "organisation" until the late nineties. At that time I never heard that the Aid Book should be removed from the library. My wife's congo have many old books back to CTR's time in the library.

The quote that Spike put up from the Insight Book is almost the same as in the Aid Book. The wording of the second paragraph differs a little but that is immaterial to the meaning.

Many older ones who still have an Aid Book prefer it because it is in one volume and easier to use than the Insight in its two volumes

You want obscene, Spike? I'll give you obscene. What's obscene is the WTS's blood "policy," which causes the deaths of many innocent children each year, all the while the WTS quibbling about how to pronounce the ancient name of a god that does not exist.

If you're not a dub, Spike, you certainly put on a good act. Trying to grovel your way back into their good graces?

lezleesm: Whats in the name anyway?

So true. A Jehovah by any other name would stink as bad.

Thank you, lezleesm, for your excellent contribution (Post 4).

Isaac, the announcement was NOT that [Spike Tassel] is NO LONGER one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Rather, it was the [Spike Tassel] is NOT one of Jehovah's Witnesses. The congregation's treatment seems to be almost the same, but the meaning I get from it is that when I said I had repented of my sins at my "baptism", that I didn't know what I was talking about. I participate fully in the singing and in taking notes, but not in commenting outside of elder-sanctioned applications focused on their examination of my spirituality. I can, at present, receive basically any thing I want for personal use, except for the WT library on CD.

BluesBrother, it was within the last five years or so when I heard the announcement regarding the official delisting of the Aid book. The 2 Insight volumes are relatively small compared to some non-WT publications in my library. I remember a time when I would bring my 2-volume Insight set to the meetings and Convention to make notes in.

It is not a blood "policy" which causes deaths. It is sin, and its resultant sicknesses and maltreatments.
